Curved pads with anatomical pad design have been developed for optimum fitting to body shape. Supporting surface of each lateral pad includes a layer of pressure-relieving foam for additional protection and comfort. Modular lateral supports provide optimum trunk control whilst improving balance, posture and comfort. Offset correction can be applied to an asymmetric trunk to bring better trunk alignment for enhanced function. Super comfortable pressure-reduction padding helps mould to the user’s body shape.

Wheelchair lateral supports can involve a combination of mounting brackets that mount onto the wheelchair to hold the lateral in place, lateral hardware, and a mount to support the pad. They act as hands supporting the trunk area where needed. This allows all the links to be adjusted so that they can get to the right point to support and stay there.

Wheelchair Seating Assessments & Advice

If you think you could benefit from a wheelchair headrest, ask a GP, physiotherapist or occupational therapist to refer you to your local wheelchair service for an assessment. They’ll advise if you need a wheelchair and if so, what type. It is always a good idea to consult a healthcare professional to assist in the decision making process.

Physical and occupational therapists are often called on to prescribe a wheelchair. A properly prescribed wheelchair can be a useful device in reintegrating a person with a disability into the community, whereas a poorly prescribed one can actually exacerbate the problems associated with activity limitations and disability.
