About Boulevard and Sync Living
Northern Ireland’s premier shopping destination, The Boulevard, is flying the flag for accessibility following an £30k investment in state-of-the-art Changing Places facilities.
Andrew Smyth, Sync Living Changing Places Specialist, is satisfied with the results of the Changing Places at The Boulevard.
Andrew commented on the Changing Places at The Boulevard that:
The Boulevard, Banbridge has shown leadership and commitment to accessibility in its provision of a Changing Places facility. As a premier shopping destination it already offers mobility and wheelchair hire to patrons. The installation allows individuals who find standard accessible toilets unsuitable and who required a higher level of equipment to facilitate a basic human need of toileting and changing.
The excellent standard of finish at this facility ensures safe and comfortable surroundings for individuals with more complex care needs and their carers.
The opening and registration of this Changing Places facility puts The Boulevard in pole positon with a commitment from UK government to bring forward legislation to make it mandatory to provide such facilities in new public buildings by the end of 2020, along with existing buildings.
Chris Nelmes, Retail Director at The Boulevard, said:
The Boulevard is a destination for all and we have strived to create an environment where the needs of all our customers are met including more green spaces, quiet hours and mobility aid. This further investment is testament to our commitment to inclusivity. We recognise and support the idea of “community participation” and “active citizenship, and offering our customers facilities that meet their needs is one step further in the right direction.
We hope the new Changing Places facilities provide the comfort needed by those living with disabilities, so they feel more comfortable when on site and empowered to enjoy their day of shopping, dining, meeting friends.
